It was the scent of jasmine and gardenia in the warm morning air on her early bicycle rides to the boulangerie in Saigon that inspired our founder
Kate Crofton-Atkins to create Cochine’s first fragrance.
Having moved to Vietnam back in 2009, she was instantly struck by the country's style and romance. Charmed by the everyday scenes around her from the tiny, hidden streets overflowing with jasmine and frangipani to the stylish backdrop of French architecture and balmy evenings filled with the scent of exotic flowers, she set about designing a range of fragrances that captured the distinctive charm of French Asia.
Now, over ten years on, that magical essence of wanderlust continues to run through the heart of everything we do at Cochine. We still create our fragrances using oils from the region's flowers and plants such as night flowering Champa Jasmine, the Delentii orchid, Water Hyacinth and Agarwood. And we still work with many of the very same family-owned factories Kate started out with in Saigon, learning and growing with them as we’ve grown to become the luxury fragrance house we are today.
